I am a physician investigator applying aging research methods to improve the care of older adults with non-malignant hematologic disease. I am an Assistant Professor and Director of Thrombosis in the Division of Hematology & Hematologic Malignancies and a Center on Aging faculty member at the University of Utah. I use qualitative methods, powerful observational datasets, and collaborations with translational scientists to improve shared decision-making for older adults with venous thromboembolism and other blood diseases. We focus both on traditional outcomes (e.g., major bleeding and mortality) and aging-centered outcomes (e.g., frailty and functional independence).
