I am a physician investigator applying aging research methods to improve the care of older adults with non-malignant hematologic disease. I am an Assistant Professor and Director of Thrombosis in the Division of Hematology & Hematologic Malignancies and a Center on Aging faculty member at the University of Utah.

My goal is to establish cross-disciplinary networks as a hematology collaborator within geriatrics and a geriatrics collaborator within hematology to improve outcomes for older adults with venous thromboembolism and other blood diseases. To that end, my work spans the translational science spectrum, using collaborations with basic scientists, qualitative methods, powerful observational datasets, and partnerships with patient advocacy organizations. We focus both on traditional outcomes (e.g., major bleeding and mortality) and aging-centered outcomes (e.g., frailty and functional independence).
