Dr. Jay Lee is currently Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at Duke University. His clinical practice focuses on melanoma. His research focuses on improving the quality of care for older adults with melanoma, and clinical trials for safely de-escalating surgical care for patients with melanoma. He received a GEMSSTAR award (1R03AG089004-01) from the National Institute of Aging in 2024 to improve decision-making for older adults with melanoma. He is currently the site principal investigator at Duke University for MelMarT-II (NCT 03860883), an international randomized controlled trial comparing 1 cm vs. 2 cm margins for patients with clinical stage II melanoma. He is also the site principal investigator for EXCILYNT (NCT05839912), a multi-center trial evaluating targeted excision of lymph node metastases for melanoma.
